I’ve become quite the Disney fan over the years. It all started over 10 years ago being a single parent of three children and, perhaps like you, I didn’t see a vacation in my future, let alone my desire for a Disney vacation. Fortunately, an acquaintance felt “sorry for me” as I had never vacationed with my children. I was on my way to Walt Disney World; I saw this as a preview in hopes of taking my kids there someday. And, yes, I felt guilty going without them!
Upon arriving at Walt Disney World, specifically Magic Kingdom, I cannot tell you the emotion that overwhelmed me! I have never seen anything so beautiful and so clean! Needless to say, it didn’t take long to get me “hooked.”
Upon arriving home, I just had to see how much it would cost for us to vacation at Walt Disney World. I obtained a quote and saw no way I was going to be able to afford this vacation. I pondered, dreamed, calculated, etc.; I still wasn’t ready to toss this idea out…not just yet!
Changing a few things that I felt were needlessly added to my quote and with a minimal down payment, and discovering I could make payments, it was within financial reach. Ultimately, I made our vacation reservations for the following year. I am a go-getter and knew that with a little extra concentration on my spending and budgeting habits this was something I wanted to accomplish. This was the start of many family vacations to Walt Disney World.
